SEVENTEEN’s Junhui Sparks Fan Uproar as #DemandBetterSecurity and #JunhuiNeedsProtection Trend

SEVENTEEN’s Junhui is once again at the center of a major fan-led movement demanding increased protection, as the hashtags #DemandBetterSecurity and #JunhuiNeedsProtection trend globally following a recent airport incident.

On June 30, 2025, fans reported that Jun was mobbed by large crowds at an airport with little to no visible security, reigniting longstanding concerns over how Pledis Entertainment and its Chinese affiliate XCSS handle the star’s safety. The hashtags quickly gained traction on X (formerly Twitter), with fans around the world expressing both outrage and exhaustion.

Pattern of Neglect Raises Alarms

This is not an isolated case. Fans have cited repeated incidents dating back to:

  • September 2023
  • February 2024
  • September 2024 (which led to the first viral use of #PLEDIS_PROTECT_JUN)

In each instance, Jun faced overwhelming fan crowds, often with no personal security detail present, raising concerns about physical safety and emotional toll. Despite these warnings, fans claim the agencies have taken no visible action.

Fanbase Demands Action

Now, with #DemandBetterSecurity and #JunhuiNeedsProtection trending, Carats are calling for immediate agency accountability. Demands include:

  • Full-time security personnel for Jun’s travel and schedules
  • Clear protocols for crowd control
  • Public acknowledgment from Pledis and XCSS

Many fans have also criticized the agencies for neglecting Jun’s safety due to his nationality, fueling larger conversations about the treatment of foreign idols in K-pop.

“It’s not the first time, and it won’t be the last unless we keep the pressure on,” one fan wrote on X, garnering thousands of likes.

Waiting for a Response

As of now, neither Pledis Entertainment nor XCSS has issued an official statement addressing the current incident or fan demands. In the meantime, the hashtags continue to dominate fan circles and trending charts.

Jun, a beloved member of SEVENTEEN’s performance unit and a former child actor in China, is widely recognized for his versatility, humility, and dedication. Fans now urge agencies to match that commitment with real-world protection.

“He shouldn’t have to suffer for doing his job,” one supporter posted.

“We demand better. Not tomorrow—now.
