Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein Trailer Unveils Jacob Elordi as the Creature in a Gothic Tale of Rage and Longing

Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein Trailer Unveils Jacob Elordi as the Creature in a Gothic Tale of Rage and Longing

Netflix has finally released the official trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, giving audiences a chilling yet tender look at the acclaimed director’s adaptation of Mary Shelley’s gothic masterpiece. The highly anticipated film will premiere on Netflix worldwide on November 7, 2025, following a limited theatrical run.

The Creature Speaks: A Story of Love or Rage

Unlike traditional adaptations, del Toro places the Creature’s perspective at the heart of the narrative. Narrated by Jacob Elordi, the trailer highlights the monster’s tragic loneliness and desperate search for connection.

The Creature reflects on his existence with the haunting line:

“My maker told his tale. And I… will tell you mine.”

The trailer builds to its most striking moment, as the Creature confronts Victor Frankenstein with a devastating ultimatum:

“I demand a single grace from you. If you are not to award me love… then I will indulge… in rage.”

This sets the tone for del Toro’s vision—less about horror for its own sake, and more an exploration of isolation, rejection, and the fragile line between tenderness and destruction.

Critical Buzz and Release

Del Toro’s Frankenstein already carries strong awards season momentum. The film premiered at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival on August 30, 2025, where it reportedly received a thunderous standing ovation.

The film runs approximately 150 minutes and will first screen in select theaters on October 17, 2025, before debuting globally on Netflix on November 7, 2025.

Del Toro himself describes the adaptation not simply as horror but as a deeply emotional story about forgiveness, understanding, and the human spirit.
